How do you hydrate?

Image
Hi, Jas here :) When it comes to hydration – yes, drink water. I personally have never been able to consume the recommended amount of water (your weight/2=ounces to drink) more than once a week.  It is hard. I work a desk job, every 4oz sends me to the bathroom. Still I tried...I went to the bathroom every 45m-1hr. This is not reasonable for people who have quotas to meet or work in a customer facing environment. Eight hour work day – 10m per break is 80m a day – that’s over an hour spent away from your desk.  To make up for the impossibility of it all I eat fruit. I’ve read that you should consume your first 16 oz. when you wake up the 8oz before or with each meal 16oz following a workout and another 8oz before bed. That would be the typical 8 glasses, but again this would vary depending on weight and activity level. The way I drink my water depends on the season. Spring/Summer: I drink it cold or room temperature and may add pineapple or mangoes  depending ...

Yuck, Water!

Hey, let's face it. We literally need water to survive. I have came across a lot of people that do not like water. I used to be that person. I did not start drinking water until I was about 17 years old. Yeah, I knew my body was made up of 60% of water. Yet, I didn't think it required me to drink it. I never really put much thought into it. I just assumed my body made the water it needs, and tea was a good substitute. Silly right? Tea has it benefits, but it also dehydrates you. My sister Jas and I carries a bottle of water with us everywhere we go. Jas even leaves a hydration bottle at work, and I carry multiple bottles of water. Why should you drink water? You must constantly refill, refuel, and rejuvenate the body I would say. The body it constantly absorbing and exuding water. Water keeps the body lubricated, detoxifies the body,  gets rid of bad breath caused by dry mouth, keeps the body cool, moisturize skin, keeps you alert, suppresses your appetite, and prevents ...

Resistance Bands

Image
Are you someone who travels often? Do you only have a small space to workout? Are you looking to gain lean muscle? I am guessing you don't want the expense of investing in exercise machines and dumb bell sets. I have just the thing for you - resistance bands. They start light and work up to heavy (10-35lbs), so you don't need various sets of dumb bells or bulky weight training machines. Best of all they fit in a small travel size bag. You can get a full body work out anywhere. All you need is time and maybe a door 😊 My sister Carly and I started our fitness journey separately then  joined forces for accountability. Carly joined BeachBody and decided to follow the 21 day fix. We had a lot of success working out together:21 Day Fix, Jillian Michaels' BodyShred, Core De Force. We are now looking into the 21 Day Fix Extreme. In #21DFX, Autumn has us using resistance bands. I had one set of bands, but we needed another. So I checked Amazon, and ordered  Hongdak Resistanc...

Do I really have to workout?

Image
You ever experience one of those Lazy Days? You know, where you really want to rest, but know you need to work out. For years, I wanted to workout, and be healthier. Then around Dec 2017/Jan 2018, I joined Beach Body. The program was 21 days none stop. I was motivated. Today, I had to remind myself of that moment. We (Jas and I) really didn't want to workout. So, instead of a 30 minute workout, we did cardio exercise for 13 minutes. Pretty much what we thought was easy and simple; yet, effective. EASY 13 MIN WORKOUT Each exercise was done for 30 sec with a 10 sec break between them Cardio Jumping Jacks Butt Kicks  Jab/Cross Upper Cut Combo Mountain Climbers Alternating Side Squats  Push Kicks Push-ups Leg lifts in Plank  - Straight leg then Bent knee - Right side then left Standing Oblique Crunch  - Right side then left Jump Rope  Cool Down Forward bend Up Dog Down dog Runners Lunge each side Standin...

When you BUST your budget

Image
Photo by  rawpixel  on  Unsplash Hi, Everyone! Welcome to our blog :) I am posting this article simultaneously with my other post Grocery Shopping Basics .  I didn't stick to my budget for the week.  Sadly, I went over by $31.00 😬, and it's not the first time. However, like in life when you fall you have to get back up. I don't believe in excuses, I believe in dusting yourself off and figuring out a plan to avoid falling again. You may not always be successful, but you do learn from your mistakes no matter how small the lesson. Good new! the last time I busted my budget, I went over by $90.00😞 . Walmart offers so much convenience that it makes it hard to stick to the list. To avoid this level of epic failure in the future, I will not only create a list, but I will add the maximum amount I am allowing myself to pay for products. I will also try to avoid Walmart-which is easier said than done :) 5 Tips for not going over budget: ...

GROCERY SHOPPING BASICS: STICKING TO YOUR BUDGET

Image
Hi, Everyone! Welcome to our blog💖 I don't know about you, but I hate the grocery store. Wondering from aisle to aisle, navigating my way between other shoppers, resisting the temptation of snacks. I want to share with you 4 tips for maintaining your budget. I am a recent Dave Ramsey follower, and he recommended the EveryDollar app. My siblings and I went over our budget and designated $300 per month for groceries and household goods. The goal is to be under budget, so I aim to spend $65 or less (including taxes) each week. I shop weekly because fresh fruit and vegetables are an essential part of our diet. The only draw back of fresh produce is that they expire quickly. My recipes are usually semi-homemade. I don't make my own seasonings, and I've only recently started checking labels. I mainly worry about added salt and sugars. As mentioned in a previous post, I meal plan. Planning allows you to check for ingredients then make a list of what you need. ...

Meal Planning: 10-14 thru 10-20-2018

Photo by Ylanite Koppens   Hi, Everyone! Welcome to our Blog :) It is easier to meal plan than meal prep. I usually plan a menu between Thursday and Saturday, then shop for groceries on Sunday. I review the local ads and always shop at either Publix, Aldi, or Walmart-due to both convenience and price. Our household consists of 3 adults with differing dietary tastes. The goal is to spend $65 or less. Below is this week's menu: Dinner Photo by Angele J Sunday/Monday: Oven Roasted Chicken Thighs Steamed Broccoli Creamed Corn Tuesday/Wednesday: Shrimp Broccoli/California Blend Wild Rice Thursday/Friday: Turkey Chili With Black Beans Lunch Tuna Salad Turkey Sandwiches Breakfast Turkey & Eggs Oatmeal and Breakfast Sausages Waffles with syrup or nut butter Snacks Fruit Baby Carrots You will notice that I plan primarily for dinner, but have options that are consis...
